A retail consortium wanted to transform their traditional online store into a multi-vendor marketplace, allowing independent sellers to list and sell their products while the platform handled payments and customer service.
The Challenge
Converting a single-vendor store to a marketplace required complete restructuring of the product and order architecture, building a comprehensive seller onboarding and management system, implementing split payments and commission tracking, creating seller dashboards with detailed sales analytics, and maintaining the existing customer experience throughout the transition.

Developed a comprehensive marketplace module for Magento 2 that handles all aspects of multi-vendor operations including seller registration, product management, order routing, and commission calculations.
Seller Portal
Built a full-featured seller portal where vendors can manage their product catalog, view and fulfill orders, track payments and commissions, and analyze their performance with detailed reports and insights.
Split Payment System
Integrated Stripe Connect for automatic payment splitting between the marketplace and sellers. The system handles configurable commission rates, holds for new sellers, and automated payouts on customizable schedules.
Quality Control
Implemented a product approval workflow to ensure all listings meet marketplace standards before going live. This includes automated checks for required information and manual review for certain categories.
Unified Customer Experience
Ensured customers have a seamless shopping experience regardless of which sellers they purchase from. Orders from multiple sellers are handled smoothly with clear communication about shipping and delivery.
Results
The marketplace transformation exceeded all expectations with over 150 active sellers onboarded, 25,000+ product listings across all categories, 180% growth in gross merchandise value, and a sustainable 12% commission model that benefits all parties.
